1.What is hospital and healthcare management?

ANSWER : MBA is a management course but an MBA in Hospital Management or Administration is a specialized course to manage hospitals and other industries that cater to healthcare. A general MBA targets subjects that deal with general management of the organization but a specialized course like an MBA in healthcare management teaches its students courses that can be utilized in the healthcare industry. For instance if you study law in an MBA course you will be taught various aspects of the subject  but at an MBA in Healthcare Management you will learn about the laws that can be utilized in healthcare industry.

2.What are the career prospects after pursuing a course in healthcare and hospital management?

ANSWER : The career prospects in this sector our very bright as it is an emerging field in India. Healthcare grew from 4 per cent of average household income to 7 per cent in 2005, and is expected to grow to 13 per cent by 2025.

ANSWER : In developed countries where the ratio of the doctor to the patient is  1:1000 in India it is  still 1:10,000. The hospital or healthcare industry has a huge scope and need for growth. Doctors are a precious commodity in India and it is better to let them focus on patients than to be concerned about the management of the hospitals.
Even government hospitals have now-a-days started to employ people to look after the management of the institutions. In Gujarat the government has taken initiative to train doctors in management.
