NATIONAL BOARDS DENTAL EXAMS (NBDE) 

starting from peer pressure, books, strategy till the applications form, evaluations and everything.

The day we dream about doing DDS, a stream of questions just comes out from our mind like syllabus, books , procedure and then we end up with discouragements and underestimations due to ample of unanswered questions…..

The very first thing that strikes our mind is what and from where we need to start preparing for exams, and to answer this in a simplified way, there are certain books that needs to be followed and to name some important ones are DENTAL DECKS,FIRST AIDS, ASDA. These are preferably my choice of books….there are bunch of other material available in the market but I believe in sticking to the basics and revision of everything that we have probably learned.

It usually take 3-4 months for preparation of part 1 exam but again it varies from individual to individual and amount of time you are putting in.

DENTAL DECKS is the most important flash cards which has an awesome explanation of each and every question and plus it helps you to understand the amount of knowledge at least you should have before giving the exam.

The next I will advise you to follow FIRST AIDS theory as well as question bank. This book will enhance you knowledge plus increase you level and confidence for the exam. These are the released paper and comes in a packet form starting from series A to N till now. These are pretty tough and may lower down your moral but don’t loose up because we are not ended up here…..just keep going without thinking about anything else.

There are many other materials available like KAPLAN,MOSBY, etc other books…lots of student also ask that should they refer their basic books which they have studied during their 1^st and 2^nd year, well yes probably you can use them to recall all your basics.

BUT don’t waste your lot of times in reading each and every page because level of questions and understanding is very different from what we have learned in past and that’s where you will understand the level of the questions…But you may definitely refer them for few topics !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An Advice to all Aspirants

You all by now, know the value of Study Materials in the preparation of NBDE. Also keep in mind that every year the question sets are updated with new additions. When you are planning for DDS, then why act miserly and try to download old, outdated version of study materials. They are not going to be of help any way. Also its not easy to get the scanned online versions. Even if you do manage to get some papers from some of your seniors – they will be very old versions.

Some quick answers:

1. We need to have course by course evaluations for DDS because most university requires that.
2. Attested documents to be sent in a “college sealed envelope. It takes around 3-4 weeks for the evaluations.
3. Send one copy to JCNDE (Joint Commission of National Dental Examinations) and can order multiple copy for yourself.

Once ECE sends your evaluation report to JCNDE , you can go ahead with application form for national boards. Again for this you need to have your Dentpin.

Fill up the form and pay the amount.

Wait for your eligibility id to come …which will be emailed to you.

So once all this is done …. you can login to Prometric site

schedule you exam date, time ,state and city

So its done …now all you need to do is get focused again and gear up for your exam. Make sure you reach the united states few weeks earlier to get accustomed to the environment and also you may take time to come out from jet lag.

         Once all this is done , Dream your dream and plan for the next step.

Its all about working till the last drop,don’t stop because its not over until you really start thinking its over. This whole things is about working and making utilisations of your time in some or the other activity which will make enhance your dreams to come true one day.
