TRICKS OF MDS P[REPARATION
Hi once again to all the dental docs . My self DR.DEB and It gives me a great pleasure in introducing a new series of articles … By Dr.Junaid Mohammed . Here he is discussing about what methods he applied to clear the entrance exams . I have been asking him for some time to share his experience with every body and finally he has written a great series of articles . So , all the docs who are reading this article … Learn and get motivated . That is the ultimate aim of DENTALORG.COM
Series written by Dr.Junaid Mohammed ( PG Community Dentistry )
Creative editing and designing by Dr.Deb ( Prio PG student , Founder DENTALORG.COM)
Now I hand over the article to Dr.Junaid …
My BDS life was nothing less than a rollercoaster ride.. and after all was over, even I was in the same confusion after internship open clinic??? or study for pg??? Then when i pondered over this i got a clear answer that ” we are going to practice all our lives but if we have to study, its now.. when the mind is fresh with the subjects”
Then another doubt.. Can i do it in the first attempt??? We have many subjects… the precious morning time goes in the op as an intern… and with the number of seats available.. and with the number of people writing the exam and the years they study… All this did get me down… but then what struck my mind is “I AM BETTER THAN THE REST” .. .I guess its your confidence which helps you get through these examz more than even your hardwork..
DOUBTS
After “priming” myself to the task.. Now comes the hard part… HOW TO START??? WHERE TO START?? WHAT TO READ??
HOW TO START PREPARATION
Yes believe me.. the most difficult part of entrance preparation is the starting part.. Being as confused as i was.. I joined a coaching institute SPEED CHENNAI.. which started on 28th march of 2010
i thought then let me concentrate on everything they take.. atleast the difficult part of readin the text books will be reduced..COACHING CLASSES
Read this article to know whether coaching centers are necessary !
COACHING CENTERS ? ARE THEY USEFUL ? ?
To be actually honest.. I did concentrate on many of the classes which they conducted where they brush up all the subjects which is like as if we are reading the books.. But i was not able to keep up with the pace of the coaching centre.. As an intern, I used to reach home daily at 16:30 hours.. and it was tough in the evenings to start things all over… I stood 12th… 14th in theie model examz.. I took heart from this that atleast without the actual study i am 12th or 14th..
INTERNSHIP + MDS
Now i thought.. how to improve?? yes with less time in hand.. I decided what is my strength? and what is my weak ness in the subjects we learn? I found out that Basic Medical science was my strength, meaning to say that i could recollect that better and understand better.. and Prosthodontics, conservative dentistry was tough to get into my head..
so i started concentrating on that.. and reading the text and the mcq book side by side..
by the way the MCQ book which i followed was Gowri Shankar.. i had bought Dental explore which i studied atleast twice during the hours of internship in college itself..
After my internship got over on 30th sep 2010.. i was so underprepared just may be 25 % of the others..
in october, I tought “lets give my best effort rest is in the hands of God”
End of Part 1 of the series …. To be continued …
