Welcome to all the dental students . Your friendly neighborhood Dr.Deb is back . I bring to you yet another article on MDS / NEET Preparation by one of the most regular & sucessful writer on this topic . Read the article to know abt the most easy and often neglected 7 steps of MDS preparation.

Helllos

Well.. I am Back again. Your own Dr.Suresh Shenvi

It has been exactly 5 years since I was reading in KLE Dental college reading room. Life is sooo different now. Working as staff in the same institute makes you realize that time has changed so much. Students haveBIG BRAINS BUT NOT THE BIG DREAMS. Just kidding !

But Staff life surely has given me an opportunity to revisit my past. Well.. I was much more sincere and more dedicated and more goal oriented when I was a student. But the one fact always remains the same even today. LOST TIME NEVER COMES BACK

Well.. Its me here whose gonna revisit my my first blog which gave me a name in the entrance field. “HOW I PREPARED FOR MDS ENTRANCE DURING MY INTERNSHIP”

Here its me who is again trying to give you a blue print for the whole year preparation. Although my earlier blogs were very well written but I have realized that not many have the patience to read such a big blog. I do wonder that how can someone clear an entrance by reading whole year when they don’t have the patience to read a blog. I hope you all do visit my earlier blogs for complete idea of preparation which covers almost all aspects of the preparation. This blog does include all those important points which you need to know before you plan to start reading for entrance.

A good author always finds many critics. I am sure many wont like these advises. You all should know that THIS IS SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR INTERNS DONT HAVE MUCH IDEA AND END UP WASTING THEIR PRECIOUS 10 months for JUST NOTHING. My ultimate aim has been to inspire those who always hoped it as a dream. And those sincerely attend the internship , do find less time for preparation and not much guidance from anyone. Well.. this gonna help you a lot big time .. For those who have whole day or taking a break of year will also benefited from it. You can always modify it . You all are smart enough. I have no doubt in that

THE FIRST STEP- THE START

THE MOST DIFFICULT ASPECT IN STARTING ENTRANCE PREPARATION IS THE “START IT SELF”

The more time you waste in taking the first step.. the more chances that you going to loose the battle.

I am sure most of the college must have already completed the annuals. Infact this is the exact time when we started preparing for entrance.. SO FOR THOSE WHO THINK ITS TOO LATE??? ..THERE IS NO WRONG TIME TO DO RIGHT THING.

I have divided the next 10 months and have tried to allot time for each subject so that it gives you a clear vision and a goal. The time table has been framed keeping in mind of the brain of an average student and the brilliant one.. And I hope this helps you.So here it goes.. APRIL to JANUARY AND YOUR TIME STARTS NOW

I have given 7 days for each subject. But not all require the same time. So you can always cut short the days alloted to you. But its important that you keep a deadline for it. I personally finished the preparation of first reading in 2.5 months. and I prepared from March start. So its up to you how serious you are and HOW MUCH YOU ARE STRONG TO PUSH YOURSELF.. NOTHING IS EASY

All the seven steps for MDS preparation continues in the next page …

Hi friends , your friendly neighborhood Dr.Deb is back : ) . For more regular updates do join our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dentalorg

For all the BDS students all over India one question is becoming more and more worrisome now a days . The question of what after BDS ?

In many previous articles in the website various options after BDS have been discussed . If you haven’t read it yet , then have a look at one of the most read article on What After BDS ! by clicking in the box below .

http://www.dentalorg.com/career-options-after-bds.html

Yes the most common option that emerges out is MDS . But as we all know , its not so easy as it seems . Getting a Govt. seat is tough as it needs lot of hard work and seats are few . So there is no guarantee that you will definitely get a seat . Option of private colleges in not feasible for everyone as its a costly affair .

So in that case , the next most obvious option remains is to open a clinic . But a new dentist again faces problem here . Today its the the world of speciality treatment . Patients are becoming more and more aware of the various dental treatment modalities : Courtesy Google : )

And also in the dental field too the competition is increasing day by day . There is demand to know about newer treatment modalities like dental implants , lasers etc . So to move ahead in the market of dentistry , any dentist , must have the knowledge of these recent advances . But what if he / she is not able to MDS for some reason . Then how can he/she learn more about these modern treatments !

So in such a case DIPLOMA courses are very useful . Diploma courses are short term courses of usually one or two year duration that teaches a BDS pass-out the basic skills that will definitely enhance the clinical prospects of the student . At the same time he / she also learns the newer techniques of Implants , Lasers , Endodontics , Orthodontics that is of immense help in clinical practice .In this article major list of institutes ( Govt. & Private ) will be given that provide the diploma courses .

PLEASE NOTE : THE LIST BEING GIVEN HERE IS NOT CONCLUSIVE . IT WILL BE UPDATED REGULARLY .

A warm welcome to all dental students from yours Sincerely Dr.Deb . Dentalorg.com has brought to you regular updates on Army Dental Corps .

Article collected from the experience of the past candidates who appeared for the exam .

I’m writing this article solely to help/guide you guys i.e. Dental Professionals/colleagues , out there who wants to get into the wonderful organization called ARMY DENTAL CORPS, a very vital part of INDIAN ARMY.

It’s a beautiful organization to start with and a fantastic career option for a fresh dental graduate/post graduate while looking onto the current state of dental jobs available and otherwise also in terms of patient exposure, challenging cases in challenging conditions, job satisfaction, financial aspects and etc, etc….

It is the only organization in India right now to provide so many dental jobs in a govt’ sector to dental graduates both UG and PG

How to Get Entry?

It can be through two modes:

(i) SSC(short service commission) or a,

(ii) DPC( Direct Permanent commission).

But due to some reason commissioning are going on for SSC only these days. Of which the procedure is as follows:

Usually it all starts with an advertisement in leading newspapers and electronic media i.e. www.indianarmy.nic.in stating the number of vacancies, format of application, dead lines, phone numbers for enquiry and other relevant information. Mostly in the month of sep-oct each year.

The candidates should read all eligibility crieteria’s carefully before applying and apply in the given format only with all necessary documents neatly attached in a orderwise fashion and make sure it reaches the HQ before due date.

Then wait patiently to get the acknowledgement card due to lot many applications it might take sometime after the due date of applications.

You will get the acknowledgment card signifying that your application has been reached the concerned office and has not to do anything with the interview call.

Then if your name gets shortlisted for the interview ( only for BDS , MDS will surely get a call as per current scenario) you will get a interview letter along with a intimation call, since last year the list has also been displayed on the website i.e. www.indianarmy.nic.in along with the day you’ve been assigned for the interview.

And then be prepared for the interview and on the day please be well dressed in formals (preferably), shoes well polished, tie for gentlemen’s and don’t commit any blunders, show offs like wearing a Indian flag on tie and so on(people do sometimes)

For the interview part, be thorough with the academics part anything to everything can be asked from dentistry and its latest advancements plus they will also judge you on the basis of your personality, the way you talk, the way you dress and so on, some questions can be asked to judge your aptitude also.

Itl be a panel of 8-9 High flying officer ‘s from different specialties, stalwarts in there fields, sitting on a round table, i know this all sounds too much but please be patient and calm during the interview, they are there to select you and judge you and your potential, so remain confident, polite and answer questions wisely take your time don’t just utter anything

Enter the room by asking permission, greet everyone, sit when asked, be to the point in answering, don’t bluff around if you don’t know just say it politely that you don’t ( no one knows everything), speak only the truth while asked don’t make up thing they are smart enough to catch, don’t commit things like i’m here to serve the nation and all, be what you are, then after the interview is over leave when they told you to leave & leave the room while greeting once again.

Like you must have heard “An Officer – A Gentleman”

Read the following Article for more Info on How to face SSB Interview

http://www.dentalorg.com/tips-to-face-the-ssb-interview.html

Then you have to wait till the evening announcement of results, if your name is there then you will be given a form to be filled along with the information about the center/venue for your medical examination which is always on the next following day of interview. Till this point its provisional merit list.

For the medical examination, reach the medical facility on time, empty stomach, then you will be subjected a a complete thorough medical checkup from all medical specialties and in the evening the results will be declared.

Then on the basis of your interview and medical examination, etc the final merit list will be made and the selected candidates based on the number of vacancies will be called for commissioning along with all the information for joining.

And from here the “new life begins with the uniform.”

You will be granted a rank of Capt. in Indian army with all the facilities and perks of an officer along with ALL THE RESPONSIBILITIES and COMMITMENTS involved for the organization.

And that is all in brief about the selection procedure. I wish you guys all the very best for your future

And all those who gonna be selected (definitely 36 Officers this time amongst you people only)

Today I bring to you one more article by Dr.Suresh Shenvi

Here he Explains in detail about the NEET Exams . Read in detail and post any doubts you may have in the comment section . The author will try to answer & clear your doubts .

MDS Preparation Tips Part 1

I Hand over the article to Dr.Suresh Shenvi .

“ Yeh… It was around 4 years back.. When I made an effort to pen down the thoughts from my life.. my entrance life.. and surprisingly .. I never thought it will reach so many.. I mean.. today it gave me an identity. The best things.. it showed the ray of hope for those who thought it will never happen.. I don’t expect all those who got a seat will remember me.. but I am thankful to god.. every single day.. Yeh.. I made a difference.:)

It has been quite some time since I wrote down something.. and I guess I will meet your expectations this time too. But I do feel that most of the things are much clearer now than how things were before few years back.. well.. one things hold true for sure… EYERYTHIING CHANGES EXCEPT CHANGE”

Although I might be bit old in the field in of entrance now.. but even today I am still trying my best to show students the right way of preparing for the same. And I am still in young anyway

I am not gonna tell you more about how to prepare about for MDS entrance. You can always google about it and I am sure you will find my blogs on many sites… but I will surely try to explain how things have been changing from past 5 years in the field of exams , to the fee structure.. and the attitude of the student too..

WHATS NEET?

It has been quite some time.. or may be a year since the students have been wondering aboutNational Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for Postgraduate

Dear friends.. I feel surprised when students ask me about the NEET… Well.. in a way they are right too.. but does the exams really matter at the start of preparation..I don’t think so.. if someone has read for whole year he will be strong enough to face any kind of change.. opportunity only dances with those who are already on the dance floor… are you on the dance floor?

I am sure .. there is lot many info on many website.. they all make you feel as if the NEET is something so different from any examination and inturn they make students feel more stressed just after hearing about it..

Chalo.. lets make it simple ..NEET.. its almost similar like any AIPG EXAMINATION which earlier used to include seats of the government colleges.. but now.. the same result will be applicable for all the colleges all over India.. Yeh.. SINGLE CET.. its that simple. Basically it means that one exam for all the total MDS seats in the India.

I do feel that its going to benefit in a lot many ways.. but it does have its own disadvantages.. but when it comes to students.. Do you really think that’s gonna make a big difference in the success of the students in the field of entrance.. I don’t.. Infact I feel it will be challenging to students.. it’s a new pattern.. single exam.. still the same reservation policy and higher fee structure. When is that gonna change??

For those who have read whole year.. do you really think that giving extra 2 – 3 exams will be more stressful.

I indeed feel that giving multiple exams will strengthen the way the student gonna think for next exams.. . that means you do have an option still if you don’t perform good in one.

Which is quite good in a way. There are many times where a students might not perform good or able to appear for that exams , it does feel harsh to see one exam sealing the fate of many.

But we do need to understand that the same type of examination are conducted in the other fields.. but this will only help when all the things are well managed and well organized .. rather than just making it a big deal for any students and not providing them with any complete idea regarding the same.

I do feel that there are more challenges which needs to be addressed like job opportunities, reservation aspect, financial support than just simplifying the exam pattern.

But one big advantage of conducting single cet is the uniformity in the exam pattern.. we all need to agree for this fact for sure and I am sure.. the AIIMS institute has always been stood up for same and it will.. this time too. We have no doubt for the same.

But I don’t think there is any provision for challenging the questions here. Is there any??

One will not get a question paper. The advantage of COMED , KCET is no more found in NEET.

SO DOES IT GONNA CHANGE THE WAY YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR EXAMS ?

I have been getting lot many mails. Lot many calls asking for the type of preparation for NEET. we all should know that,, we are not from the future… nobody knows how it will be. A person will be lying a lot if he comments on the examination pattern when no one has actually seen it once yet.. but one thing is for sure.. AIIMS gonna conduct it.. This does mean that it will be somewhat similar to the AIPG examination.

But based on what I have been reading or hearing. The answer is YESSSSSSS. It needs a different kind of a approach.

Its gonna be quite similar to the session wise exams on a computer. Remember that MANIPAL examination.. . its quite different feeling and students are not much well versed with the procedure Yet.. You don’t get much of a feel in answering the computer based examination which is quite a disadvantage.

But when it comes to the preparation aspect.. One should remember few points

You Don’t have a second chance!!!

What does this mean for a student.. ?? ..This means .. you can not just read one book and go there.. and be a topper.. Believe me.. you cant.As the exams will be session wise the paper will be set from a huge question bank.It wont be too much different from the normal examination..That’s basically impossible. They do have to keep in mind that students need to score atleast 50%.. atleast most of those students who will appear for it , no one can shift too far from basics.

Do expect around 60 % repeated question from books directly or indirectly. Don’t even think of expecting a rank without entering the competition without reading the old papers.

The whole entrance is based on one simple fact.. read .. and Remember

But is that enough ?? !!!

Believe me you gonna have lot many new questions there.. right from the textbooks.. Chill..don’t be scared here.. no one can go back and read all those big big textbooks in a year.. its almost impossible.. I have been solving papers for the mcq books and I have seen them lifting question from .. god knows anywhere which is not related to most of us..

But does it really matter.. not at all.. one thing one should remember that.. most of you will end up marking wrong in such new question. Guess work never works in entrance .. especially when there is single exam and almost all will appear for the same.. Almost all of you mark wrong. so ultimately you are no different.. all are at an equal stage,, but what if you go wrong in one or the questions which was there in a explanation part of an MCQ books.. well.. that gonna cost you too much… every single marks gonna make a lot of difference as there is just one exams.

Gone those old days when students used to mark 200 of 200 question thinking that they will get a rank.

If NEET does happen for dental then , you will have to be very serious and very choosy in marking the answers each mark gonna change your fate for sure.

My best advice is not to leave a single book which has been recently a source of the mcq for the entrance book..

There are lot many books

Our own DENTEST which has been recently updated fully with complete new look.. we did include the latest topics.. framed new questions.. reduced the number of mistakes

The sixth edition of dental pulse and the new dental explore is released too

I did hear that the recent ortho questions were lifted from MCQ IN ORTHODONTICS BY Dr.Jitendra sharan. Well I do feel one can expect a lot from this in the next exam too.

Leaving even a single book gonna make a big difference and we all know. One has to work hard now..Remember.. There is no shortcut to success!!!

WHAT DIFFERENCE WE CAN EXPECT IN THE QUESTION PATTERN ?

The questions will be single answer objective type. Similar to any exam . Each answer with correct answer shall be awarded four marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. So it does have a negative marking..

Friends.. it has been 4 years I have been solving the papers.. I have seen one basic fact when it comes to new question.. specially the dental part.

They ask you clinically oriented questions now a days. For example.. most of them are lifted from the case based kind of question.. like the latest modalities in the treatment..

Here is an example..

Which component of the triple anitbotic paste leads to discouration of tooth..Well answer is surely Minocycilne. They do want to test your updated knowledge, well. This is bit too much to expect.. but yes.. one will surely find such info only if you read the new editions of the books ..so always read the new edition.

Some are directly pick from the latest MCQ textbook in market.. the only option is reading such imp mcq books.. the authors take an outmost care while setting the question in the new book.. and its mostly all new types of question.. so the examiners tend to lift the same.. which is almost equal to lifting the questions from the textbook itself… don’t be choosy in reading books.. you are not the examiner .. isn’t it??

WHAT IS THE CURRENT SCENARIO OF NEET ..?

Interim Order by Supreme court NEET PG Case which told to Continue the Existing System. All Pg entrance exams by state and central Governments, and Institutions can conduct their Own Entrance tests.
Final Hearing on Jan 15, 16, 17..We really don’t know what judgment it will be… but well.. what we do know is students should not waste too much of their time in reading the news than reading the textbooks.

WILL THERE BE ANY NEET THIS YEAR.?

Well.. I do feel that its gonna be this year.. if not then next year for sure.. but we definitely don’t know whether there wont be other exams.. one can always challenge the verdict and win the case.. so.. fingers crossed. But as far as medical NEET.. its gonna be there for sure.. Dental.. well .. we need to wait for the verdict.

SHOULD I FILL THE OTHER FORMS OF PRIVATE EXAMINATION.?

You all must have already been seeing the notification about the private colleges.Well I do feel that one should fill all the form of private exams like comed manipal kle nitte .

Why?? Well.. you never know when the thing change. anything can happen here:P

The best thing one can do at this stage is go fill the form and in case there is no other exams.. it becomes mandatory for the respective authorities to pay you back the examination fees .. may be not in a month.. but you surely gonna get it after few months. So why wonder about the other examination when you can just fill it and concentrate more on studies.

When is the NEET examination Schedule ?

Which is the official site for NEET PG MDS registration

http://neetmds.aiimsexams.org/StudentLogin.aspx

Whats imp before registering for NEET??

Well.. one has to read the prospectus properly before filling the form… here is the link for the same
http://aiimsonline.in/pdf/AIIMSUserManual.pdf

How are the seats allotted ?

Well.. you get both all India ranking and state wise ranking..its still unclear about the way the private seats allotted .. I guess we need to still wait for the right info which may be only available after the conduct of examination.

Is there will be any change in fee structure ?

Well.. we don’t know how things will be.. especially when you try to restrict the private colleges here.. we certainly can expect a hike of fees in colleges.. marginally.. if not a huge.. but why fear. When still rank is not near.. lol

Your only aim at this moment should be getting a rank.. hoping to end up in a GDC .. rest will follow.. after all everything happens for a reason.

Overseas-qualified dentists are defined as those who have taken their primary dental qualification outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA covers European Union countries and most countries of the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA covers European Union countries (EU) and most countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The situation for EEA nationals is different in some aspects and will be referred to in the section on EEA.

Overseas-qualified dentists who wish to continue their training or to take postgraduate qualifications in the UK must fulfil certain essential requirements. Before setting out to travel to the UK, overseas dentists are strongly advised to find out about the following:

Details and requirements of eligibility for registration must be obtained direct from the GDC. A summary of the different types of registration is provided below. Registration may be full or temporary.

Full Registration

Allows a dentist to practise dentistry in the UK, providing the dentist has the correct visa/immigration status.

Temporary Registration

Allows a dentist to practise dentistry only in selected supervised posts for training, teaching or research purposes. The maximum length of time you can have temporary registration is limited to five years. Temporary registration is not granted for periods of less than three months.

You will need to find out if the GDC recognises your degree for the purposes of temporary registration. You can find this out by checking the list of recognised universities for temporary registration. This list is available by country on the GDC website.

Temporary registration is normally granted for the purpose of postgraduate training, research or teaching in relation to a specific appointment. If an overseas-qualified dentist writes to the GDC to enquire about registration in the UK, the letter from the GDC may state that the person would be eligible for temporary registration providing their papers are in order.

It is important to understand that although you may be eligible for temporary registration, you will not obtain temporary registration until you are successful in obtaining the offer of a post. You cannot work on temporary registration in general or private practice or in community dental service.

Specialist lists

The GDC is the sole competent authority in the UK for the dental specialities. The GDC has responsibility for standards of education and training. The GDC also maintains the UK specialist lists. These can be accessed via the GDC web site or by e-mailing specialist@gdc_uk.org.

The specialist list includes: oral surgery, endodontics, peridontics, prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, dental public health, orthodontics, paediatric, dentistry, oral medicine, oral pathology, dental and maxillofacial radiology, special care dentistry.

Please note: oral and maxillofacial surgery is a medical speciality and requires dual registration both with the GMC and GDC.

OVERSEAS REGISTRATION EXAMINATION (ORE)

If you do not hold full registration with the GDC you may eventually be able to work as a dentist if you pass the ORE and have the correct visa to remain and work in the UK. This ORE examination is held by the GDC and replaced the International Qualifying Examination (IQE).

The ORE is in two parts. Part 1 consists of written papers covering the subjects of:

applied dental science

clinically applied human disease

clinical dentistry

law and ethics

health and safety.

Part 2 consists of a practical examination on:

a dental manikin

an OSCE,

an exam in diagnosis and treatment planning

a medical emergencies exam.

You need to contact the GDC to find out if you are eligible to sit this examination as there is a new requirement to demonstrate that you have had at least 1600 hours of dental clinical experience of treating patients.

The ORE is based in the UK dental curriculum. Candidates are advised to read the GDC document, The First Five Years: A Framework for undergraduate Dental Education. This can be found on the GDC website.

The GDC also provides a list of useful text books. The list comprises of some of the books used in some UK dental schools. You may find that you have used similar text books as part of your undergraduate curriculum. If you live in a large city where there is a university with a dental school, it may be useful to look at the books stocked in branches of medical and dental bookshops. You will then be able to make a judgment as to whether you need to buy or borrow new text books.

It can be difficult studying for ORE on your own. If you contact your local postgraduate dean, you may be able to join an ORE study group/course or be introduced to other dentists also studying for ORE.

Dentists who complete the ORE and have no clinical experience may need to do up to 1 year Dental Foundation Training (DF1) in order to be able to work as a general dental practitioner for the NHS. Success in the ORE does not mean you will automatically secure a DF1 place or a job in the NHS. It has become very difficult to find a DF1 training place as there is a lot of competition from UK and European graduates.

Definition of Prior Clinical Experience

On the GDC website you will see the following advice about per-requirements for entering the ORE:

“The overseas dentist must have 1,600 hours clinical experience where they have personally treated patients in the dental chair. The number of hours of this clinical experience will either be hours spent by the overseas dentist undertaking appropriate investigations and administering dental treatment during their dental degree, during post-qualification experience, or a combination of the two. It could also be undertaken during temporary registration. It will not include time observing other dentists or assisting other dentists/dental students in undertaking diagnosis/treatment planning or provision of treatment.”

Verification of the Prior Clinical Experience

The clinical experience will be verified. The GDC will request signed references from university dental teams for the undergraduate experience and from employers for the post-qualification experience. The employers must provide their registration number. The GDC will reserve the right to undertake spot checks to verify references where appropriate. Affidavits will be accepted in only exceptional circumstances where an overseas dentist has proven refugee or asylum-seeker status.

It is important to be aware that if you arrive in the UK having less than the minimum 1,600 hours of clinical experience and being unable to sit the ORE, you may put yourself in a very difficult situation. Although the GDC website states that you could obtain experience in a post offering temporary registration, you need to be aware that under current circumstances obtaining such a post will be extremely difficult. You should not rely on obtaining such a post in the UK in order to obtain sufficient experience to enter the ORE.

In addition, please check if you have any restrictions on your visa preventing you from applying for training posts. You will not be able to apply for training posts if your visa has restrictions such as-no employment as doctor or dentist in training - or similar wording.

If you know that you have not achieved the 1,600 hours of clinical experience required to enter the ORE, you would be advised to seriously consider obtaining a clinical post in the country where you qualified before coming to the UK.

For any ORE examination queries, please contact the ORE department at the GDC at examsapplication@gdc-uk.org.

THE INFORMATION ON IMMIGRATION FOR NON UK DENTAL GRADUATES

Changes to the Immigration laws to the UK

On the 29 February 2008 a new immigration system was launched. The new points system combines pre-existing work and study routes into the UK into 5 tiers. Points are awarded on workers’ skills to reflect aptitude, age, experience and also the demand for these skills in any given sector.

The five tiers are: TIRE 1, 2, 3 , 4 , 5 .

For dental graduates TIER 5 is crucial .

Tier 5

Youth mobility, temporary workers and Medical Training Initiative (MTI) posts: people allowed to work in the United Kingdom for a limited period of time to satisfy primarily non-economic objectives. The purpose of these posts is to allow an overseas dentist to come to the UK for up to two years, for example, to gain experience in a technique or procedure. At the end of this period, he/she will be required to return to their own country. Please see the section on tier 5 international training fellows for further information.

Dentists who wish to practise in the Republic of Ireland – which is a separate EEA country and not part of the United Kingdom - must register with the Dental Council of Ireland, which has its own procedures and conditions.

How will this affect overseas dentists?

It is important that you check your visa before applying for a post in the UK. You should only apply for a post for which you have the correct visa.

Doctors and dentists who are in the UK by virtue of another immigration category, for example those with leave as a dependent – each specific case would need to be checked to ensure that you can work or train in the UK.

Immigration Regulations for the UK

Senior House Officer (SHO) posts

The SHO post is a training post in UK hospitals. These posts are changing to dental foundation posts. If you have entered the UK on a tier 1 Visa which states that you are not eligible for doctor or dentist training posts, you would not be able to apply for one of these posts. If you have entered the UK on a tier 2 visa you will need to have a job offer. The employers will need to demonstrate that there was no suitably qualified EEA citizen able to accept the post before the post can be offered to an overseas citizen. The employer will be required to sponsor you for the post.

Employer sponsorship is for a specific post and for a specified period of time.

If you are successful and are offered a post, the employer will be your sponsor and issue you with a sponsor number and you will then re-enter the UK to take up the post.

Dental Foundation Years 1 and 2

These are new training posts which will be occupied by newly qualified dental graduates. If you have entered the UK on a tier 1 visa which states that you are not eligible for doctor or dentist training posts, you would not be able to apply for one of these posts.

You will need full registration for a DF1 or DF2 post.

Vocational Trainee

These posts are being replaced by DF1 posts. If you have entered the UK on a tier 1 visa which states that you are not eligible for doctor or dentist training posts, you would not be able to apply for one of these posts.

If you have completed your undergraduate training in dentistry in one of the UK dental schools, and have full registration with the GDC, but you are not an EEA citizen, you would still be able to apply for VT or foundation training. You should contact Chris Franklin at COPDEND regarding visa sponsorship.

You will require to have full registration with the GDC.

Visas

You may need a visa to travel to the UK. You can contact the visa section at embassies and high commissions overseas.

CREATIVE DENTISTRY

When I was a kid I never thought that people would be so interested in nail art …

but somebody must have thought of it someday and so it is a fashion now!!

Somebody has said, “everything can be a fashion”, even if you are using a jute sac as your college bag … saying it is my fashion … that would even look glamarous if carried properly with something creative done on it.

we should do something innovative with our field “dentistry”… thinking of very fascinating thing to include in our profession may lead to make it a part of glamour.

My dad teases me that I’ll be making matching dress coloured teeth which would give a fashionable look to my patients!

Though it was just a joke but who knew that I would seriously going to write an article on it….! well can’t we do the restoration of tooth with a coloured pearl stone which would glaze the smile…?? can’t we design it with the tatooing system…?? Or can’t we make it possible for the patient to change those restorations according to their dress colours!!

Tooth Tattooing

A beautiful tattoo on your tooth will make you look different .

One can get his tooth tatooed according to the choice, may be temproraly glued on the crown. Some would also like getting tatoo pictures of their partner and themself on both the central incisors…and I believe, something different leads to fashion if carried properly!!

Hey ….you can match your tooth designing with your colourfull nail art too….this is what creativity is all about!!

TOOTH JEWEL

How about the sparkling stars on your lively bright teeth ? Stars desn’t have to be only in the sky, we can get them on your teeth too. Then people would turn back to have a glimpse of your smile. Stones of different shapes, sizes and colours can be fixed on to your tooth. Moreover, according to your zodiac sign the birth stones on gold can be mounted on your crown…! Interesting, isn’t it????
